Introducing... AUGUSTE

Yesterday we were at UiB making the make-up test with Mr Arvid, and seeing the overall results in camera... we were all happy, and agreed on a final look (by the way: its not the one you see in the pictures, you will have to wait for that)

We have the shooting of Scene #2 tomorrow at the Bergen Library (beautiful place). People there have been so nice and allowed us to use this location. Takk skal dere ha!

Today we will be working on the final production details. Jose have been making a wonderful production and direction job.

I have been busy with the HYDRO project, but I hope to make my biggest contribution towards the editing, postproduction and music composition for this short.

Its aliiiveeee!

Oeee oeee oee oeee... ticoooosss!

Oeee oee oee oeeeee!!!! Today Costa Rica`s soccer team comes to good old icy Norway. Let`s hope we don`t lose... but we usually do. Nonetheless, I can`t miss watching the match and suffer, just as every good costa rican ;-)
There have been some candid comments in norwegian media... sorry, only på norsk :-(
We will be sitting watching the game... good and heavy swearing guaranteed!

16:9`s logo animation

Unfortunately I still dont have a place to host videos in a reasonable quality ;-)
So, for now, its only screenshots. These are from our logo animation, still without sound, but the visuals are ready.

The sequence starts with film dust and scratches, with a smooth transition using the "two points" to show video noise on the background. Everything flashes to show the logo, as it is:

We hope to use only these "two points" as an icon for our company. This, we hope, will be done when our logo and name becomes more well known.

mac on its way

I often wonder how geek can one get! My G5 is now being shipped from Costa Rica... so happy! I missed you Maca! The company now gets one more member, that will be working heavily with the Hydro Project; both with video (Final Cut Pro) and audio (Protools and Reason). Together with that, we will be working quit hard with After Effects to accomplish a good overall graphic/postproduction level... as always :-)

16:9 Audiovisual has a logo!!!! I will be publishing it soon; we are working of a small animation that will be our "trademark" (8 seconds long). More about that soon.

my dear friend Checho

So good to see you around. This guy is a tough one, and the first thing he did was to come with all sorts of questions and comments about the blog! He he, a good old Costa Rican student from Communication Sciences. ;-) Answers then:

1.) Blog design (dots in the back and so on): the reason for it is simple, I have no time to design anything right now. So I basically picked up a template from www.blogger.com. The intention now is to then play with the code and start doing some upgrades. (any suggestions about tutorials and how to do this in a fast way will be appreciated... maybe you Kjartan, or Eccola?)

2.) Ha ha! Years come hard to my face he says! No comments... just would like to see at your picture Checho! Not only years have come to leave its toll, but the good thing is that I can still look back and laugh at things (note, this is not a buddhist comment)

3.) Checho wants to capture pictures from a DVD using a mac (not going to ask about the content of those). Checho can take a look at this links: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/12/02/BU69202.DTL&type=business. This has some free DVD player that might do the trick: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html. Does anyone has a suggestion?

Big hug for you Checho... keep posting! PURA VIDA

whats going on now...

Throwing some fire to this recently created blog... here are some of the projects that are going on:

1.) Working with Hydro as Media Content Manager (screenwiting, video editing, graphic and interface design) for a game-like product that will be released next september

2.) The firm that Im starting here in Norway has a very skilled partner: Jose Fonseca, who is now undertaking his PhD studies at UiB. We are starting the shooting of a short film next may, 29th. Just this afternoon we are going to have a nice reharsal with our actors... more about this soon! In a near future we hope to have an office in Bergen, and another one in Costa Rica. Name of our company: "16:9 Audiovisual"

3.) Just yesterday I had some nice input about a photography book I hope to publish next year

4.) Im aiming to convince the Art School in Bergen about a project for an interactive documentary that I think can be great for the city of Bergen.

5.) Work in progress: series of self-portraits. One of which you can see as my profile picture :-)

6.) Hunting for a sound engineer that might like to master the CD I composed last autumn in Costa Rica: "Epitaph without flowers". Its a strange CD that has influences from classical music, trip-hop, heavy metal, blues and... you name it.

7.) Have two or three scripts for animated short films that are collecting dust in the drawer. Need some people to be enthusiastic and help to find some funding and qualified companies to produce some... (sigh, dreaming is free, right?)

Ok, thats some of it... will continue sending some news about these and, hopefuly, about some other projects that might come...

Coming back to life

Just today revisited Jill Walker´s website, in search of some help to this poor soul trying to start his own company now (cant believe this: me having a firm... iack). The thing is that I need a website, but have no time or budget at the moment... as any good starting firm!

Anyway whats important is that I remembered those long gone sessions in the dungeon at UiB in Bergen, discussing with Jill about blogging, webdesign... mmm, and complaining about UiB a bit, just maybe... Oh I almost can feel the thick air filling my lungs again (sigh). So I decided to start my blog today.

Who knows what is going to turn out of this. But thought that can be nice specially for familiy and others that might like to have some track of this Costa Rican lost in Norway. As well, discussions about philosophical matters, media theory, movie reviews, nice recipes and personal attacks are welcome!

Comments welcome... and hi again to the net world exposure!
